Manuel Riquelme Loyola

Artist

Manuel Riquelme Loyola, took his first steps in painting together with his father, a self-taught artist and painter, trained as an artist at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, graduating as a Bachelor of Art, drawing mention and professor of Visual Arts in 1994.

In 2001 he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, taking courses in drawing specification, then in 2003 he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, and obtained a Master’s degree in Theory and Practice of Plastic Arts, residing in Madrid until 2004, simultaneously develops his creative work obtaining the Post-graduate Scholarship in painting at the Contemporary Authors Academy of Madrid. In addition to this study plan in 2014 decides to do a Master in Fine Arts at the University of Granada, Spain, which allows him to carry out an investigation in relation to ethnographic objects of Chile and its link with identity and miscegenation through drawing.

He is currently doing a Doctorate in Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, in which he investigates the resignification of memory that is expressed in public space during the social outbreak in Chile that begins on October 18, 2019.
